Our weekend...

We had a great weekend, mostly spent at home!  We finished up a little furniture shopping we had left to do, but other than that we cleaned, emptied boxes, went for walks, just enjoyed our time in our new neighborhood!  The weather was so nice...for two whole days.  We played outside, and someone wore jeans for the very first time!  Picture to follow...trust me.  She.Was.So.Cute!  I got into the decorating spirit and put cute little scarecrows out front.

I love them...they are the cheapest made yard decorations ever, but I love them.  I don't see them lasting the whole season at all, so I am glad I have a picture.  Don't you just love the mommy, daddy, and Ellie scarecrows??

I tried to get Ellie to pose with them, but she is such a girly girl and hates being in the grass.  It took bubbles to get her to smile...
There are the jeans!!  And crocs!  I melt.

We took our first long walk around the neighborhood, and we love it so much!  Really, I am so glad we moved here.  I have already met more neighbors in the two weeks we have been here than I did in the four years we were at our old house.  As an added bonus for us, as Ellie and I were out walking today we ran into her pediatrician!  She lives right down the street with her husband and twin daughters!  What a small world.  Her girls are about 6 months older than Ellie, so we are going to have some new friends.  I am so, so very glad we moved here.  I can see our family being very happy here for a very long time!

Mike and Ellie enjoying the walk!  Never a bad time to stop and take a picture...conveniently for me we stopped at a bench...

I get asked a lot why there are not a lot of pictures of me around, and I wanted to show why.  As much as I love him, my photographer stinks.  Seriously, I think I am going to send Mike to picture-taking school, because they aren't pretty.  I gave him another try while we were out walking, and he took this gem while I was mid-sentence asking him if he was going to take a picture.

Mid-sentence.  I mean a girl needs a second to compose herself, straighten up her posture, suck it in, smile, something!  So.  Case in point.

Please pray for the Julee & Preslee Turner, whose husband/daddy passed away Saturday night.  So, so sad.    I have read Julee's blog for years, and I am heartbroken for her.  http://mattandjuleeturner.blogspot.com/  Check back on my blog next week for an item that will be up for auction with benefits going to a fund that has been set up for their daughter, Preslee.

Look what we have coming...

Ellie's first birthday party is right around the corner, and I cannot believe our pumpkin will be one !  Time goes by so quickly.  Sigh.

We are busy, busy, busy this weekend getting the house ready.  I am not quite sure what I was thinking hosting a party at our house so quickly after we moved in, but where else do you have a one year old's party??

In other news, I got my haircut last night.  The first time since Ellie was 3 months old.  Sheesh.  Here is before...let me warn you, I am horrible at self portraits.  Just awful.  I also hate that the only way I can do one is looking like a fool in the bathroom mirror.  Ha!  If there are any self-portrait pros out there, please comment on how you do it!  But you will get the gist of the before/after haircuts even if I look like an idiot!

Before....

After...

Let me note that it is taking every last ounce of effort I have to not sit here and focus on my fingers looking so fat and squishy.  In an effort to be more transparent, however, I will let it go and not remove these pictures from the blog.  This is so big of me, y'all.  Ha!

I hope y'all are having a great weekend!

Sad first, and a shoe!

This week Ellie has had her first cold.  It breaks my heart.  She started with the sniffles last Friday, but then they were gone over the weekend.  I attributed them to teething, because it was clear that her teeth were bothering her.  Bless her heart!  It is the saddest thing to see her paci dangling out of her mouth because she can't suck on it.  At least I know she values air....
It has not stopped her from smiling...
Or playing on newly delivered furniture...please pardon the mess in the background.  She was so disappointed when they added the cushions and she could no longer climb up! :)

We are slowly getting unpacked, and the fact that we still have boxes unopened after 2 weeks in the house would drive some of you crazy, but I'm trying hard not to stress about it.  It will happen when it happens.  Unfortunately life doesn't stop when you move!  Mike still has to go to work, and Ellie still wants to play.  Now that most of the furniture has been delivered, I feel more motivated to get the house finished.  Not to mention we have a first birthday party taking place HERE in two weeks.  Can you believe it??  Me neither.

Now it is time to go random...I found these shoes at JCP yesterday, and I might love them.  Please comment if you think they are a go...

All things new...

New city, new house, new pant size, therefore new blog.  The Bergeron Experience died out awhile back, and I could never get motivated to get started again.  I decided it was time to start fresh!  Leslie over at Lamberts Lately designs blogs so I asked her to do this one.  I love it!  My plan (which doesn't everyone say when starting a new blog?) is to be faithful at posting so I can have a yearly book made out of the blog.  Doesn't that sound great?  I have seen several bloggers do it, and I think it is a great way to capture your family's memories!  Of course, not everyday will be spectacular, and not everyday will have much to blog about, but everyday with Mike and Ellie is very special to me!  I have dreams of sitting on the porch in our retirement community reading about these days 50 years from now!  Our kid's kids can look through and see all of the funny things their parents and grandparents did.  Isn't that a wonderful idea?!

This blog is still being updated with all of the special things I want to add, but like every other area in our lives it is a work in progress and I will get to finishing as time...or Ellie...allow.  We have many things coming up that I am so excited to share!

See you tomorrow!
